Why do floor scrubbers use lithium batteries?
As a widely popular floor-cleaning device, floor scrubbers are now frequently used in places such as supermarkets, hotels, and factory workshops. Previously, most floor scrubbers relied on lead-acid batteries for power; however, today many floor scrubbers have switched to lithium batteries. So, what are the advantages of lithium batteries compared to lead-acid batteries? Let’s take a closer look.
First, convenience of use: A major advantage of lithium batteries over lead-acid batteries is their ease of use. Lead-acid batteries have a limited number of charge-discharge cycles—typically around 500 to 600 cycles—and, moreover, they exhibit a "memory effect." As a result, when using lead-acid batteries, we’re advised to always ensure that the battery is fully charged before each use and to recharge it as soon as its remaining capacity drops to about 20%. This imposes certain limitations on how we can use them. In contrast, lithium batteries don’t suffer from these drawbacks. Lithium batteries have no memory effect, allowing you to charge and use them interchangeably. For example, at noon, we can stop briefly to give the device a quick charge, then take it out again in the afternoon when we start work. This greatly enhances flexibility.
2. Service Life: Due to the limited number of charge-discharge cycles of lead-acid batteries, their typical service life is 2-3 years, whereas lithium batteries have a service life of 5-7 years.
3. Easy Maintenance: In addition to needing to be fully charged before use and recharged after discharge, lead-acid batteries also require careful attention to charging time. This is because lead-acid batteries typically lack robust overcharge protection. If the charging time is too long or if the voltage rises overnight, causing the battery to keep charging, it can damage the battery. Lithium batteries, on the other hand, are equipped with a sophisticated overcharge protection system, which not only extends the battery’s lifespan but also ensures the safety of the device.
