Over 70% of the nation’s autumn grain harvest has been completed, with the progress 2.6 percentage points faster than last year’s pace.
According to CCTV.com: According to the latest agricultural situation report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the nationwide autumn grain harvest has reached 931 million mu, completing 71.3% of the total area—2.6 percentage points faster than the same period last year. By region, the Northeast region has already harvested over 70%, the Huanghuai-Hai region has exceeded 75%, the Northwest and Southwest regions have both surpassed 80%, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River as well as South China have exceeded 55%.
In Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, this year’s corn planting area has exceeded 15 million mu. Currently, the harvesting progress has surpassed 65%, and it is expected that all harvesting will be completed by the end of October. At a harvesting site in Beilin District, Suihua City, more than 20 sets of modern agricultural machinery are operating at full capacity.

Currently, the autumn grain harvest in Guizhou Province is coming to an end, and rapeseed planting—following closely on its heels—is now underway in a rotational cropping system. In the high-yield demonstration field for rapeseed located in Pinglangba District, Pinglang Town, Duyun City, four direct-seeding machines are operating simultaneously, sowing both rapeseed seeds and fertilizer into the fields at the same time.

In Baiguo Village, Tuanxi Town, Zunyi, Guizhou Province, 4,000 mu of rapeseed are being cultivated here, taking advantage of the favorable conditions provided by a thousand-mu dam. Currently, 80% of the land has been plowed, and 50% of the rapeseed transplanting has been completed. It is expected that all transplanting will be finished in just over a week.
Right now, 500,000 mu of winter wheat in Weihui, Henan Province, have entered the optimal sowing period. In the farmlands of Liuzhuang Township, Weihui City, several wheat seeders are busy carrying out winter wheat planting operations. Meanwhile, agricultural technicians are on-site, explaining to farmers key technical points such as meticulous land preparation and the scientific selection of seeds and fertilizers. It is reported that this autumn, winter wheat sowing in Weihui City is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Jiangxi is a major rice-producing region in China. At present, 13 million mu of medium-season rice has been harvested, and the province has already completed over 90 percent of its planned harvesting area. Localities are stepping up efforts to ensure safe operation of agricultural machinery, boost the efficiency of mechanized harvesting, and guarantee that every grain of rice is safely stored. It is expected that Jiangxi will have fully completed the harvest of medium-season rice by the end of this month.

As we enter mid-October, over 2.7 million mu of winter wheat in the Aksu region of Xinjiang have gradually entered the seedling stage. This year, Xinhe County has sown winter wheat across 250,000 mu, all of which are being cultivated using drip irrigation. Farmers are now busy making preparations to ensure the winter wheat safely survives the cold winter.

It is understood that winter wheat in the Aksu region of Xinjiang is sown intensively in mid-to-late September each year and harvested by the end of June the following year. The projected yield of 2.75 million mu of winter wheat is expected to reach approximately 1.3 million tons.
