How to Choose a Vacuum Cleaner Suitable for Factory Workshops
For industrial vacuum cleaners used in factory workshops to remove dust, when selecting a vacuum cleaner for dust extraction in workshop environments, the primary factors to consider are the volume of dust it can handle. Regardless of the specific model, all vacuum cleaners can effectively remove dust particles and water stains. The main differences among various models lie in their dust-handling capacity, the diameter of the suction nozzle (which must be smaller than the nozzle’s diameter), suction power (or motor wattage), dust-collection capacity, and filtration efficiency. When emptying the dust bin, manual cleaning is still required—currently, automatic cleaning of the dust bin isn’t feasible. However, the dust on the filter can be cleaned automatically through a process known as “vibration cleaning,” which is what we often hear or see referred to as “dust-shaking.” There are four common methods for shaking off dust from filter elements: manual shaking, hand-held vibration, pulse vibration, and electromagnetic automatic cleaning. Let me explain further: Filter elements primarily serve to trap dust and prevent it from escaping into the air within the dust collection bin. (This is closely related to the negative pressure level inside the bin—when the negative pressure becomes too high, it indicates that the vacuum cleaner is clogged, preventing the intake air from being properly expelled and potentially causing the dust bin to collapse and damaging the motor.) Filter elements are not designed to filter dust itself; rather, they act as barriers to keep dust contained. For ultrafine dust particles, an ultra-high-precision filter is necessary. While vacuum cleaners can effectively collect dust, they are also vulnerable to dust damage. If the filtration accuracy is insufficient, dust can enter the motor, leading to motor burnout.
Industrial vacuum cleaners designed for dust extraction in factory workshops come in three power options: battery-powered, single-phase electric, and three-phase electric models. In machining environments, it’s more common to choose large-scale three-phase electric vacuum cleaners. Single-phase electric and battery-powered vacuum cleaners are less frequently selected. Three-phase electric vacuum cleaners can operate continuously for extended periods and offer higher power, making them ideal for collecting heavier and larger particulate matter. When workshop power supply is inconvenient, battery-powered or pneumatic vacuum cleaners can be used instead. There are more choices available when selecting single-phase electric vacuum cleaners, as they tend to be relatively inexpensive. The greater the power of an industrial vacuum cleaner, the higher its price will be.
