Explosion-proof valves generally come in two types: horizontal explosion-proof valves and vertical explosion-proof valves. Both types of explosion-proof valves feature a structure with an explosion-proof membrane covering the top. The vertical explosion-proof valve is installed on the cylinder body, while the horizontal explosion-proof valve is installed at the top.
Explosion-proof valves are primarily used in hydraulic systems of large-scale mechanical stages, lifting platforms, elevators, and vehicle inspection and repair frames—equipment that lacks mechanical locking systems. Their main function is to provide protection and prevent safety accidents. They constitute a type of locking mechanism within hydraulic systems. This requirement is mandatory for CE certification; thus, explosion-proof valves were first invented and manufactured in Europe. Later, they were introduced to China and have since been widely adopted. Explosion-proof valves feature a simple structure and a compact, space-saving design, making them easy to install at the inlet of actuator units.
Working principle
The working principle of the explosion-proof valve: The solenoid valve contains a sealed chamber with several passageways at different positions, each leading to a separate oil line. In the middle of the chamber is a valve, flanked on both sides by two electromagnets. When the coil of the electromagnet on one side is energized, the valve body is attracted toward that side. By controlling the movement of the valve body, different oil-discharge ports can be either blocked or opened. Meanwhile, the oil-inlet port remains normally open, allowing hydraulic oil to flow into the various oil-discharge lines. The pressure of the oil then pushes the oil cylinder’s piston, which in turn drives the piston rod, ultimately actuating the mechanical device. Thus, by controlling the current flowing through the electromagnets, we can precisely regulate the mechanical motion.

Installation Requirements
1. The explosion-proof valve can be installed at any angle.
2. The minimum installation spacing between two explosion-proof valves shall be 200 mm.
Structure
The explosion-proof valve has a simple structure, consisting of a steel-welded cylinder and an explosion-proof valve disc. When the system pressure exceeds 0.1 MPa or the set pressure, the explosion-proof valve disc will rupture automatically, preventing the system from exploding and ensuring both production and personal safety. This valve is available in two types: circular (Type I) and square (Type II). [1]
