Advantages of dry ice cleaning machines

As for the term “dry ice cleaning machine,” I’m sure many of you feel both familiar and unfamiliar with it. That’s because most people recognize dry ice—after all, dry ice has a wide range of applications in daily life. In industries such as catering, wedding services, pharmaceuticals, cold-chain logistics, and e-commerce, you’ve probably heard about dry ice to some extent. Yet, when it comes to dry ice cleaning machines themselves, many people remain unclear about their specific cleaning applications. So, let’s have Meitengqi’s editor explain exactly what a dry ice cleaning machine is! Although dry ice cleaning machines are still considered a relatively niche service category in China, in some Western countries, they’ve been using dry ice to clean oil stains and grime from surfaces in both civilian and industrial sectors for decades. The technology was first applied to removing the outer coating of U.S. space shuttles, and gradually expanded to cleaning equipment across various industries. Thanks to its excellent cleaning performance—quickly and efficiently removing surface contaminants without leaving any residue—over 80% of stain-cleaning operations in these countries now rely on dry ice cleaning. In recent years, an increasing number of domestic Chinese companies have also started adopting dry ice cleaning to remove stains from industrial molds. The principle behind dry ice cleaning is that compressed air accelerates dry ice pellets, propelling them onto the surface of the object to be cleaned. Due to the extremely low temperature of dry ice (-78.5°C), it rapidly freezes and hardens any adhering substances, making them brittle. At the same time, the dry ice pellets penetrate deep into the surface of the material that’s been made brittle. As the dry ice sublimates and its volume expands rapidly, it creates an explosive force from within, effectively blasting away the contaminants from the surface. The entire process relies entirely on physical properties, so there’s no need to worry about any damage or freezing of the equipment.
